What Is Sophrology?
Q: Maybe you could define sophology for people. I don't think a whole lot of people really understand what that is, but I would love to hear your definition of it, and maybe you can kind of give us a little bit of less, a little lesson on it.
A: Yeah, so and, and that's very, what's, what's very sad is that everybody knows about mindfulness, right? And I think, and believe that sophology is very similar to mindfulness, but much more developed. It's it's a technique, or it's a therapy more developed than mindfulness, so it was created by a neuro psychiatrist he was working in Spain and in a psychiatric hospital during the war and during the Civil War and and you know how like psychiatry is treating people sometime like, harshly. So they were, like, shocking people like lobotomy and all the thing, like in the 60s. We're talking about in the 60s and and so there is certain people that are humanists, that have, like, more that want to create another approach. They're saying that, Oh, maybe we should do something else. So it created sophology and and so this is a technique of guided meditation that going to create awareness of the body and mind, and to up people connect body and mind.
So Casedo, that's his name, Alfonso Casedo, was basically working on what we call today, PTSD, that at this time, was called Shell Shock. Shell Shock was the trauma. I will see that I'm kind of a pioneer here that, you know, because sophology is not really used for, for, for for trauma, and not enough when I for me this is like this has been made for, for at the beginning, for people having trauma, For people having and that's why casado developed it. So what sophology mean is the study of consciousness and harmony. So for logic, says, source friend logos, that's, that's Greek, source friend logos, and that's that's meaning the study of consciousness in harmony.
So sophology is really a technique to deal with stress, and stress is like the big, big, big, big, big, like like, perpetuator of all our mental and physical disease, you know, the stress is the the this non capacity, this non resilience, to to to to align body, mind and soul. Like, you know this is the stress that's going to disconnect us from the fear. So when we are stressed, our immune system can't really be activated. So, so that's that's very important. So sophology is going to help you to be connecting body and mind. So you know that like to to speak about what I'm doing in my life, that I'm an holistic psychedelic therapist. So for me, it's all about understanding consciousness and helping people to align body, mind and soul. I believe that psychedelic and psilocybin, I work with psilocybin, help you to connect with your soul.
What is your soul? Your soul is your inner child. The soul is that what you have come on earth is that your real self, the real self, and that's important, because that's where you got all your gifts, that's where you got all your emotions. That's that, that's your real you.
